Wait… Did You See This in Daniel?

Okay… can we just talk about how power-packed this week was?

Daniel is not just a story about being “brave.” It is a blueprint for how to live when life around you is pulling you toward “their” way — and how to remain faithful to God in mind, body, and spirit.

And I don’t know about you, but I get excited when I see these beautiful threads in His Word — truths that speak directly to where we are right now.

First, we see that Daniel didn’t just avoid defilement through his food (the body) — the default setting of his heart was GOD.

He was faithful long before the test ever came.

His daily devotion prepared him for public pressure.

And this next thing stood out to me the most — when the pressure increased, what did he do?

He gathered his friends and prayed.

No panic.

No complaining.

Just prayer.

Daniel shows us that the reflex of a faithful heart is not fear — it’s seeking God.

And then Daniel 9… that prayer.

Did you notice the “we”?

Not “they.” Not “them.”

“We.”

Daniel confessed sins that weren’t even personally his. That is humility. That is reverence. That is true repentance.

And here’s what I love most:

  • God honored quiet obedience and gave him favor.

  • God gave understanding — and Daniel never asked for it.

  • God gave wisdom.

  • God revealed mysteries.

His faithfulness was not loud… but it was seen.

This week reminded me that Lent isn’t simply about “giving something up.”

It’s about setting our hearts firmly toward God before the test comes.

It’s about daily diligence.

It’s about heart posture.

Daniel shows us:

  • Resolve matters.

  • Prayer changes things.

  • Repentance softens us.

  • God responds to hearts that seek Him.

Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Maybe this week is our invitation to a deep “heart-check.”

A "spring cleaning of the soul."

Letting truth search us so that when God looks at our hearts and minds, He sees love and devotion to Him.

If something jumped out at you this week — a verse, a pattern, a truth you hadn’t seen before — share it below 🌷

Let’s keep digging. There is so much here.

Week Two… here we come 🤍
